Gut dysbiosis and leaky gut may influence several pathways implicated in the biology of major depressive disorder, including but not limited to immune activation, oxidative and nitrosative stress, and neuroplasticity cascades. However, methodological inconsistencies and limitations limit comparisons across studies.


An integrated analysis of six randomized, controlled clinical trials concluded that Prucalopride is an effective and safe treatment for chronic constipation.


Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) provides a promising effect for ulcerative colitis with few adverse events. Successful FMT may be associated with an increase in microbiota diversity and richness, similarity, and certain change of bacterial composition.


A comparative analysis shows that both geographic altitude and genetic/cultural background have a significant influence on microbiome composition, and it represents the first attempt to compare stool microbiota of Tibetan and Han populations in relation to altitude.


In a study looking at prevalence of pancreatic autoantibodies in non-diabetic patients with autoimmune thyroid disease and its relation to insulin secretion and glucose tolerance, there was a non-significant trend for higher prevalence of GADA positivity in GD vs HT and there was no significant relation to insulin secretion and glucose tolerance at that moment and stage of autoimmune diseases.
