The Paleo Diet Works Better Than Standard Nutritional Recommendations

The paleo diet has been shown to help several conditions. However, debate still exists regarding if it’s a “healthy” diet and the debate usually emanates from slightly dogmatic traditional nutritional circles. Well good news, very high level science has just confirmed that a paleo type diet works better than traditional dietary advice for metabolic disorders (waist circumference, triglycerides, blood pressure, HDL cholesterol, and fasting blood sugar). The Paleo Diet Works Better Than Standard Nutritional Recommendations

Dr. Michael Ruscio: Hi, this is Dr. Ruscio. And a study was recently published that was very interesting. This study was called “A Systematic Review.” And it found that the Paleo Diet worked better than standard nutritional advice for metabolic syndrome.

Now, I’ll put this up on the screen. And I’ll quote, “This study found that the Paleo Diet worked better than standard nutritional advice for waist circumference, triglycerides, blood pressure, HDL cholesterol, and fasting blood sugar.”

Now, why this is so important is this study was, again, called a systematic review. And this means it’s a summary of other studies. So this study summarized the results of four other clinical trials. And they found that the Paleo Diet was consistently more effective than your traditional dietary advice.

Why this is important is because, as we’re learning more about diet, we’re learning that while all diets can be effective, some diets are better than others. Or to put it another way, of all the healthy diets, there may be one type of diet that’s the healthiest. And this suggests that the healthiest diet for metabolic syndrome may be a Paleo-type diet.

The Paleo Diet is essentially a diet that cuts out grains, dairy, and processed foods and focuses on predominantly vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds, and healthy cuts of meat and eggs.

  1. I’ve been doing mainly paleo farly strong since April of this year. And vegetable juicing since September ( and after watching FAT SICK AND NEARLY DEAD) Unfortunately i am also dealing with thyroid issues and perimenopause so losing weight is a sloooooow process. I also have chrojic bronchitis and chronic asthma and bad allergies which aggravates my asthma and makes exercising difficult at times AND I live in a town of 4,000 and about 30 miles from the closest curves or exercise facility but even with all that I’ve lost 23 lbs and dropped my cholesterol down from 265 down below 200 for the first time in over 20 plus years! Plus my diabetes numbers are usually anywhere between 85-110 after eating and they said my diabetes could go into remission! It’s made a difference in my way of thinking and eating. I even stayed completely paleo on my first Palio friendly thanksgiving ! I watch documentaries on healthy eating and it really helps encourage me
