Low to moderate carbohydrate diets have greater effect on glycemic control in type 2 diabetes compared with high-carbohydrate diets in the first year of intervention.

Clinicians should check Hashimoto’s thyroiditis patients’ iron (particularly in menstruating women) and vitamin D status to correct any deficiency. Adequate selenium intake is vital in areas of iodine deficiency/excess, and in regions of low selenium intake a supplement of 50-100 μg/day of selenium may be appropriate.

Probiotic supplementation is moderately efficacious for reducing intestinal transit time in adults. Probiotics were most efficacious in constipated subjects, when evaluated in high-quality studies, and with certain probiotic strains.

In this review, researchers propose an update on the role of EcN 1917 (a nonpathogenic Gram-negative strain of bacteria) in maintenance of remission in UC patients, including data about efficacy and safety.

The result has showed an overall little significance for the efficacy of metronidazole combined probiotics over metronidazole alone for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis (BV). We need further study to provide enough evidence to confirm the benefits of probiotics in the treatment of BV.
