In Case You Missed It

On Monday, we discussed gut immune function.

On Wednesday’s podcast release, we spoke with Meik Wiking and discussed Hygge – a key missing ingredient to happiness.

Latest Research

Sleeping and training the next morning regularly with reduced glycogen availability has minimal effects on selected markers of immunity, the incidence of upper respiratory tract infection (URTI), and sleeping patterns in trained athletes.

Vitamin D treatment significantly improved fatigue in otherwise healthy persons with vitamin D deficiency.

Study found baseline HbA1c levels to be significantly higher in hypothyroid patients, which reduced significantly after achievement of euthyroidism without any change in glucose levels. This was not the case in hyperthyroid patients. This study suggests that we should be cautious while interpreting HbA1c data in patients with hypothyroidism.

This study found a possible association between increased iodine intake and autoimmune thyroiditis. Excessive iodine intake may trigger thyroid autoimmunity and eventually thyroid hypofunction.

A study found urinary iodine in early pregnancy is associated with subclinical hypothyroidism (SH). Women in early pregnancy with SH were iodine sufficient, but still at risk of iodine deficiency as pregnancy progressed.

Loved the idea of the sweet potato casserole. I am totally off sugar. Maple syrup is a component of this recipe. Alternatives?
