This study found that the manometric profile of the upper esophageal sphincter in patients with GERD is characterized by a short and hypotonic upper esophageal sphincter in half of the patients. Additionally, this profile is more pronounced in patients with extraesophageal symptoms, and neither the presence of proximal reflux nor reflux pattern bring a different manometric profile.

There appears to be a prospect of benefit in a small number of children receiving fecal transplant therapy for mild to moderate ulcerative colitis. Fecal transplant therapy appeared to be safe in this patient population.

This systematic review suggests that physical activity constitutes an effective medium for the reduction of burnout.

Practices that include yoga asanas appear to be associated with improved regulation of the sympathetic nervous system and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system in various populations.

Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is widespread in obese subjects. Carbohydrates might promote the development of SIBO in obesity and fibers provide a protective function. Our results suggest a close relationship between diet and SIBO in obesity, thus supporting a possible role for intestinal microbiota.
